Effects of the Blood Glucose Level on the Phagocytic Function of the Reticulendothelial System

Abstract
|
|
|
To investigate the effect of blood glucose on the function of reticuloendothelial system, the phagocytic activity of the reticuloendothelial system and blood glucose level were evaluated in the 5%D/W induced hyperglycemic and insulin induced hypoglycemic rats.
The results obtained were as follows ;
1. Fasting blood glucose levels were 706.8 mg% as seven times of normal value in the hyperglycemic group and 11.8gm% as one tenth of normal value in the hypoglycemic group.
2. In the hyperglycemic group, the phagocytic fuuction of reticuloendothelial system was increased. On the contrary, the phagocytic function of the hypoglycemic group was decreased in comparison with normal.
